Maryland State Massage Therapy Licensing Requirements

Maryland has two options available to those who want to pursue a career as a massage therapist: either a CMT (Certified Massage Therapist) or an RMT (Registered Massage Therapist). Both options require students to complete 500 hours at an accredited massage therapy program. A CMT, however, must also attend 60 hours of college courses. In addition, the state of Maryland has a mandatory jurisprudence examination.
