Finger Lakes School of Massage

Ithaca, NY
Finger Lakes School of Massage has two locations: the original location in Ithaca, which opened over ten years ago; and the newest location in Mt. Kisco, opened in 2008. Both locations offer full- and part-time certification programs that include science classes in anatomy, physiology and pathology, and classes in massage therapy theory and practice.

The full-time program takes approximately seven months to complete. Classes meet most weekdays, with evening practice clinic sessions. The part-time programs are designed to allow students to continue working their current job while training to be a massage therapist, with classes on weekends only in Ithaca, and some evenings and weekends in Mt. Kisco. A student-run clinic is open to the public by appointment.

Finger Lakes School of Massage offers continuing education workshops, career placement assistance and financial assistance to qualifying students.

The Onondaga School of Therapeutic Massage provides training in the science of massage at two locations. The Syracuse location opened in 1997 and the Rochester location opened in 2000. Both locations offer 6 month accelerated programs, 12 month part-time programs and 16 month evening programs. All training programs include science classes and hands-on training under the supervision of a licensed massage therapist.

Swedish Institute

The accredited Swedish Institute, located on the west side of Manhattan, was founded in 1916 and offers the oldest massage therapy program in the country. The Institute offers an Associate's degree in Occupational Studies, with a 16 month full-time program or a 32 month part-time program. Hands-on training is provided at the student-run clinic. Potential students are invited to attend one of the Institute's regularly scheduled Open Houses, participate in a massage therapy demonstration at a hands-on workshop, or schedule a personal tour of the school.

The Swedish Institute offers continuing education courses, and assistance in financial aid.
